My Story

So far

This blog was born out of a simple but important realisation:

Working with data doesn’t have to feel overwhelming.

As someone who’s walked the winding path from anatomy to analytics, and now moving into health informatics leadership, I know what it’s like to crave clarity in a world full of noise, dashboards, and deadlines.

That’s why The Serene Analyst exists.

It’s a space for data professionals – especially those in healthcare, public health, or mission-driven fields, who want to do meaningful work without losing their minds in the process.

Here, I share tools, reflections, frameworks, and strategies that help you:

  • Uncover the insights hiding in your data

  • Understand the systems behind the numbers

  • Unlock growth – for your work, your organization, and your career

All with a mindset rooted in calm, intention, and purpose.

If you’ve ever thought “There must be a better way to approach this…”  – this blog is for you.

Let’s make meaning with data  – thoughtfully, sustainably, and with heart.

This blog is a reflection of my journey – a blend of data analysis, fascination with health information management, and personal growth stories. Join me as I share the lessons learned and the dreams I’m pursuing, and let’s explore the beautiful world of data together.

My Blog’s Mission

At the heart of this blog is a simple mission: to inspire, educate, and connect. As a seasoned data professional with a passion for data storytelling, visualisation tools, and mindful analytics, I aim to share valuable insights and personal stories that resonate with you.

Join me in this journey of discovery as we explore the world of data analysis, embrace change, and strive for a balanced, fulfilling life.

A Journey Through Books & Writing

My First Love Was a Book

Before I ever touched a dataset, I fell in love – with books.

I grew up surrounded by them. Not just as shelves full of stories, but as quiet companions. Books taught me how to sit still with questions, how to listen closely, and how to follow the thread of an idea all the way to its heart. They made me curious. Reflective. Brave.

Reading taught me to think slowly and deeply – something that would later become the foundation of how I approach analysis. It’s probably why I care just as much about why something is happening as what the numbers say.

Books weren’t just an escape; they were a practice. A way of training my attention. And in a field like healthcare analytics, where so much depends on nuance, context, and care, I find that the habits I developed as a reader still serve me.

Today, I read to sharpen my mind, to stay grounded, and to find language for the patterns I see in the world – because a well-framed insight can be as powerful as any algorithm.

So yes, I love code. I love clean datasets and predictive models.
But books?
Books are where I first learned how to see.

Healthcare Analysis: Why I'm passionate about it

I didn’t start my journey with spreadsheets or SQL, I started with people.

With a background in Human Anatomy, I was always fascinated by how the human body works: its systems, signals, and silent stories. But over time, I realized that the challenges patients face often go far beyond biology. What if we could understand patterns in how people access care? What if we could predict when and why someone might be readmitted – and intervene before it happens?

That’s when my curiosity shifted from the microscope to the bigger picture.

And that’s how I discovered the power of healthcare analytics.

I became passionate about using data not just to describe what’s happening in the health system, but to improve it. To ask smarter questions. To close the gaps between patient needs and provider actions. And ultimately, to make healthcare more equitable, efficient, and human.

Today, every dataset I work with is more than just numbers. It represents lives, decisions, delays, diagnoses and opportunities to do better.

My goal? To sit at the intersection of clinical understanding and data strategy, and to help healthcare systems make informed, compassionate choices. Whether it’s through predictive modeling, interoperability frameworks, or visual storytelling, I see data as a force for care, not just control.

That’s the mission I carry into every project, every dashboard, and every conversation.
