“Some writings arrive like gentle whispers, the kind that still the noise around you and remind you of what truly matters.”
Introduction
LIFE’S final journey stirs deep thoughts and quiet truths. In NOW I KNOW, the Desert Rose reflects on mortality, repentance and the hope found in faith. This poem invites us to prepare our hearts and live with grace and purpose, driving, walking slowly, gently, towards the departure lounge, towards eternity with God in heaven or the devil in hellfire.
Now I Know
WHEN I look at the dead,
When I go to bury the dead.
First, I remember that I am not better than anyone who is dead.
ALSO, I remember that I too will die someday!
A truth I can’t flee from nor delay.
So, I call forth repentance,
For after death comes,
God’s judgment way.
HOW will I stand in that final sight?
Will mercy shine or Hell’s shadow bite?
So, I prepare my soul to die – To meet my Maker.
I make my will and set my ways right.
I strive, seek to heal what’s torn with kin and friends,
Mend broken ties before life’s end.
With trembling courage, I send my soul to meet my God, whose Mercies roll.
I pray with a trembling heart and breath,
Let my portion be life, not death.
A place in Heaven where pain and sorrow cease –
Where love blooms in endless peace.
SO, while I live each fleeting day,
I chose to walk in Light’s pure way.
To love, to serve and humbly pray-
Preparing well for that last day.
NOW, I know that life’s fragile thread,
Precious, brief, but softly said,
Repentance is my
Sheltering tree,
God’s grace, my hope, boundless and free.
PEACE with God- my final rest.
A treasure held within my breast.
Through Christ alone, death
loses its sting.
AND hope, peace eternal I now sing.
Dedication
Dedicated to SAINT QUEEN AHIACHI ROBINSON OTEH and DEACONESS ESTHER CHINYERE JOSEPH NGBOROGU, fearless Amazons who lived for God and Truth, now resting in eternal peace. Their lives remind us all: life is fleeting, death is certain and the call to live well and prepare for the last judgement.
