“From daily streaks to daily stillness”
🌾 Calm Isn’t Always Consistent
As The Serene Analyst, I talk a lot about clarity, calmness, and conscious choices.
So, when I opened my Kindle app at 1:00 a.m. and saw my daily reading streak reset to 0, I was unexpectedly rattled.
I love reading. I love meditating. I absolutely adore chocolate.
But in that moment, I found myself wondering:
“Do I still read because I enjoy it… or just to check a digital box?”
📖 The Ruthless Reality of Hurry
Ironically, the book I had just finished was The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry.
(Yes, the universe has a sense of humour.)
The reset streak made me pause – really pause – and reflect:
- Am I turning peaceful habits into productivity metrics?
- Has the love of the thing been overtaken by the love of the achievement?
As a lifelong reader, I’ve always found serenity in stories. But here I was, feeling pressure… from an app.
“Stillness isn’t a streak. It’s a state of mind.”
🧘♀️ The Meditation Breakup (Sort Of)
That Kindle moment spilt into another area of my life – meditation.
I had a 1,000+ day streak on Headspace. A tiny badge of pride. But it began to feel like a contract I couldn’t break.
So, I did something bold.
I let it go.
One skipped day became two. Two became ten.
I avoided opening the app – partly in fear, partly in freedom.
But when I eventually returned, something had shifted.
Now, I meditate because I want to.
Some days it’s ten minutes. Some days it’s none.
But every session is mine.
💡 Analytics of the Soul
As an analyst, I know how easy it is to track everything: steps, sleep, books, breaths.
But here’s a truth I’m learning to live by:
“What matters most can’t always be measured.”
Some data is just noise. And sometimes, peace lives in the pause.
So I’m choosing presence over performance. Meaning over metrics.
I’m showing up when it counts, not just when it gets counted.
🍫 The Unbreakable Streak
One habit, though, remains undefeated.
Chocolate.
I come from a family of passionate readers.
But I’ve never lost a chocolate streak.
(Say what you will – some streaks are sacred.)

🌿 The Serene Reminder
If you’ve lost your streak in reading, journaling, working out, or meditating, maybe you haven’t lost anything at all.
Maybe you’ve just been invited back into intention.
You don’t need a perfect record.
You need a present heart.

So, it happened again, I lost my streak in my Echo prayer app. I just couldn’t shake it, couldn’t bear to see the zero & 1. I’ve deleted the app, I’m more stressed out about it than I care to admit.
To be honest, I’ve been skimming through the prayers anyway. Can I accept it and go back to the app? We’ll see.
